Dr. Wiegand has been in practice at the Mid Valley Pediatric and Allergy center since January, 2000. She is a native of Weslaco and graduated from Weslaco High School I 1982. Dr. Wiegand graduated from Baylor University with a B.S. in Biology n 1986. She received her medical degree from UTMB in Galveston in 1990. After completing all of her clinical rotations, Dr. Wiegand chose to pursue a career in pediatrics. She enjoys caring for children of all ages.

 

She did her residency in pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio an at the Children’s Hospital of Austin at Brackenridge. Before joining the staff at the Mid Valley Pediatrics and Allergy Center, she worked 3 years at Su Clinica Familiar in Harlingen, Texas, 1 year at the Ellis County Diagnostic Clinic at Waxahachie, Texas, and 2 years at Dyess Airforce Base in Abilene, Texas.

 

She has been board certified in pediatrics since October, 1993. She has been a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1991 and a Fellow since November, 1997. Dr. Wiegand is also a member of the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, Texas Pediatric Society, and the Hidalgo-Starr County Medical Society.

 

Dr. Wiegand served as the Chief of Pediatrics at Knapp Medical Center for 2 years, 2006-2007 and 2007-2008. She also served on the Continuing Medical Education Committee at Knapp Medical Center for several years.

 

She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Weslaco, Weslaco Women’s Study Club, and PEO Chapter BW (a philanthropic organization promoting the education of women).

Her hobbies include fishing, watching sports, especially college and professional football, traveling, swimming, reading mysteries, and collecting antiques
